STB seeks nominations for biofuel candidate to fill RETAC vacancy

The Surface Transportation Board is seeking candidates to fill two vacancies on its Rail Energy Transportation Advisory Committee, including one representing the biofuels industry.

According to the STB, one vacancy must be filled by a representative from biofuel feedstock growers or providers and biofuel refiners, processors and distributors. The second vacancy is for an “at-large” representative with relevant experience in the transportation of energy resources.

The RETAC is a federal advisory committee that consists of a balanced cross-section of energy and rail industry stakeholders that provides independent, candid policy advice to the STB. It also fosters open, effective communication among the affected interests, such as rail performance, capacity constraints, infrastructure planning and development, and effective coordination among suppliers, railroads and users of energy resources. The committee meets at least two times per year.

Suggestions for candidates to fill either position are due Aug. 30 and can be submitted online via the STB’s e-filing. Additional information is available on the Federal Register website.
