The U.S. EPA has released renewable identification number (RIN) generation data for November, reporting that nearly 1.64 billion RIN were generated during the month, including more than 21.9 million cellulosic RINs.

More than 21.9 million D3 cellulosic biofuel RINs were generated in November, bringing the net total for the first 11 months of the year to 200.54 million. Approximately 8.9 million D3 RINs have been generated for ethanol, with 123.47 million generated for renewable compressed natural gas and 68.16 million generated for renewable liquefied natural gas. Nearly 171.31 million D3 RINs were generated domestically, with 29.27 million generated by importers.

No D7 cellulosic diesel RINs were generated in November. The net total for the first 11 months of the year is 1.34 million, all of which were generated for cellulosic heating oil by importers.

Nearly 17.92 million D5 advanced biofuel RINs were generated in November, bringing the net total for the first 11 months of the year to 125.74 million. Nearly 86.77 million were generated for ethanol, with 28.1 million generated for naptha, 1.61 million generated for heating oil, 7.82 million generated for nonester renewable diesel, and 1.53 million generated for renewable compressed natural gas. Nearly 62.68 million D5 RINs were generated domestically, with 63.15 million generated by importers.

More than 1.28 billion D6 renewable fuel RINs were generated in November, bringing the net total for the first 11 months of the year to 13.81 billion. Most, 13.6 billion, were generated for ethanol, with 225.12 million generated for nonester renewable diesel. More than 13.59 billion D6 RINs were generated domestically, with 11.32 million generated by importers and 225.12 million generated by foreign entities.

Nearly 315.41 million D4 biomass-based diesel RINs were generated in November, bringing the net total for the first 11 months of the year to 3.46 billion. The majority, 2.78 billion, were generated for biodiesel, with 695.15 million generated for nonester renewable diesel and 2.42 million generated for renewable jet fuel. Nearly 2.53 billion D4 RINs were generated domestically, with 647.45 million generated by importers and 305.9 million generated by foreign entities.

As of the end of November, the EPA estimates that nearly 17.64 billion RINs have been generated so far this year, with 649.29 million retired, 551.29 million locked and available, and 16.44 billion unlocked and available.
