USDA: US ethanol exports reach 128.42 million gallons in June

The U.S. exported 128.42 million gallons of ethanol and 962,592 tons of distillers grain in June, according to data released by the USDA Foreign Agricultural Service on Aug. 2. Exports of ethanol and distillers grains were both down when compared to June 2018.

According to USDA data, the U.S. exported 128.42 million gallons of ethanol in June, down from 150.48 million gallons reported for the same month of 2018, but up from the 99.61 million gallons exported in May.

The U.S. exported ethanol to nearly three dozen countries in June. Canada was the top destination at 29.52 million gallons, followed by Brazil with 28.03 million gallons and India with 21.9 million gallons.

According to the USDA, the value of U.S. ethanol exports reached $212.94 million in June, up from $165.24 million in May, but down from $238.55 million in June 2018.

Total U.S. ethanol exports for the first half of 2019 fell to 759.93 million gallons, down from 932.7 million gallons during the first half of 2018, but up from 697.01 million gallons for the same period of 2017.

According to USDA data, the U.S. exported 962,592 tons of distillers grain in June, down from approximately 1.02 million tons exported in both May 2019 and June 2018.

The U.S. exported distillers grains to approximately 36 countries in June. Mexico, Vietnam and South Korea were the top three destinations, with 162,887 tons, 125,523 tons and 114,564 tons, respectively.

The value of distillers grains exports reached $200.3 million in June, down from $208.51 million in May and $227.14 million in June 2018.

For the first half of 2019, U.S. distillers grains exports fell to 5.35 million tons, down from 5.62 million tons during the first half of 2018 and 5.52 million tons during the first six months of 2017.
