California Gov. Schwarzenegger announces bioenergy action plan

California is a "biomass goldmine," declared California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger as he released the Bioenergy Action Plan in mid-July. The plan outlines specific actions to meet the objectives of an April executive order, which included aggressive ethanol production and use targets. It was compiled by the Bioenergy Interagency Working Group. Prior to the plan's release, Schwarzenegger toured Pacific Ethanol Inc., a 35 MMgy plant under construction in Madera County.
