Illinois EPA sees increase in air permits

By | February 09, 2007
The Illinois EPA's Bureau of Air has been flooded with fuel ethanol plant permit applications. It received 42 permits in 2006, which totals 4.3 billion gallons of additional capacity if all of those projects come on line. Five have been approved, 14 are in various stages of review, one is under construction and two are expansions. Brad Frost with the Bureau of Air said it's been a strain on resources, but the agency is keeping up.
