The Grocery Manufacturers Association's anti-ethanol campaign is expected to be launched May 22, despite the efforts of some ethanol supporters to expose it as a campaign designed to do no more than prevent the advancement of the ethanol industry.

The GMA's campaign, Food Before Fuel, will debut at the National Press Club in Washington D.C., with the mission of freezing or rolling back current ethanol mandates.

Last week Ethanol Producer Magazine reported on the release of GMA's public relations proposal request to influence political leaders and change their perceptions of ethanol's benefits by creating a link between ethanol and rising food prices. The request was "acquired" and made public by Sen. Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa, who has been an outspoken proponent of ethanol for many years.
