Thousands attended the International Fuel Ethanol Workshop & Expo's Welcome Reception & Expo Grand Opening at the Gaylord Opryland Resort & Convention Center on the evening of June 16. More than 600 companies have a booth space reserved for the conference.

Many in attendance were talking about the flooding in Iowa. Ethanol companies such as Penford Corp. and Cargill Inc. were reportedly affected, among many others (see Web exclusive posted earlier today for more information). Steve Stucko, program director of the Media & Events Group for BBI International, said he knew of a few companies that weren't able to attend the FEW specifically for that reason.

Nearly 4,000 people are registered for the FEW so far. Stucko said more are expected to register June 17 before the general session begins.

With 605 booths to maneuver, BBI International launched a helpful tool for people trying to find their way around. Aptly called Wayfinder, the interactive touch screens allow people to search a map of the expo floor by company name or booth number. It even shows where the food can be found. It lists the giveaways at all the booths and a schedule of conference events for the next two days. Attendees looking for a more environmentally friendly option to information gathering at these booths can sign up to have many of the brochures e-mailed to them instead. Stucko said BBI International discovered this tool at an award ceremony hosted by Tradeshow Week magazine, which named the FEW one of the "Fastest 50 Trade Shows."

Not only were products and services on display at the expo, but attendees could also book booth spaces for the 25th annual FEW in 2009. Visit the BBI International booth for more information.
