RINSTAR notes low RIN compliance

By | August 04, 2008
A survey recently conducted by the RINSTAR Renewable Fuel Registry showed that 81 percent of renewable fuels suppliers are out of compliance with U.S. EPA regulations. When 134 survey participants were asked if they receive RIN transfers on the same day as the product transfer document, as required by the EPA, only 19 percent said yes. Reports of low compliance prompted the EPA to reissue a warning to ethanol producers and RIN traders, reminding them that fines for noncompliance are $32,500 per day.
