Grassley asks GMA to lower food prices

By | January 03, 2009
Sen. Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa, has written a letter to the Grocery Manufacturers Association, asking the group to urge its members to lower food prices in light of falling commodity prices. The GMA caused controversy in the spring of 2008 by starting a public relations campaign blaming ethanol for rising food prices. Corn and other commodity prices have fallen by 50 percent June, according to the letter, while food prices have continued to rise.
