By | January 12, 2009
On Dec. 2, Kinder Morgan Energy Partners LP began commercially shipping denatured ethanol via its 16-inch Central Florida Pipeline between Tampa and Orlando, Fla. The company spent $10 million to modify the approximately 80-mile line for ethanol shipments, which involved chemically cleaning the pipeline, replacing incompatible equipment and expanding storage capacity at its Orlando terminal. The milestone represents a first for the U.S. ethanol industry.
