DDGS demand growing in Canada

Demand for distillers dried grains with solubles (DDGS) is increasing in Canada, the second-largest export market for the product. In 2009, Canada imported about 804,000 metric tons of U.S. DDGS and industry exports are cautiously optimistic that those numbers will continue to grow in 2010, according to the U.S. Grains Council March newsletter. Livestock producers in Canada used to include only 10 percent DDGS in animal rations—today 15 and 20 percent is the average.
