It's all about DDGs, not Kate Middleton

If you’re interested in all things distillers grains, you’re in the right place. If, however, you somehow wandered over, hoping to hear more about the fantastical wedding of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, William and Kate, I’m sorry to disappoint. This is the all DDG, all the time channel.
As many of you will remember, BBI International once published a quarterly DDG magazine that was a supplement to Ethanol Producer Magazine. It’s now being revived as a biannual. The first issue will get mailed out with the July issue of EPM as well as making an appearance at the 2011 International Fuel Ethanol Workshop & Expo, set for June 27 to 30 in Indianapolis, Ind.
There was some talk about audience before re-launching Distillers Grains Production & Markets. Who are we trying to reach with this magazine? In the end, it was decided that our major audience is the same as it is for EPM—the ethanol producers themselves. That’s not to say others might not find information of interest between the glossy pages of this twice-yearly magazine, however. We hope you do.
In addition to the magazine, once a month we’ll be sending out a newsletter with links to stories we’ve written about DDGs on our website, much like the ethanol newsletter we send out once a week. Included in that monthly newsletter is this blog, “The Scoop,” written by little old me. Get it? The “scoop” on DDGs, which is often scooped … OK so maybe that’s only thrilling to a word nerd like me. Thanks to my colleague, Kris Bevill who came up with this little gem of a blog title.
We’re hoping the news of the new-again DDG magazine piques your interest. We’ve heard from people that missed the DDGs magazine and rejoiced when they heard we would be starting it up again. If you fit in one or both of those categories, please let us know we’re on the right track!
Another thing we always like to hear is your story ideas. Sometimes it feels like there are so many ethanol stories to write we can’t find the time to write about them all. (Though we still appreciate story suggestions.) On the DDGs side, however, our sense is that there aren’t as many “news” stories. That’s where you come in—alerting us to the hot DDG topics we might never have known about without your help.
Send your comments or tips to hjessen@bbiinternational.com. Unless, of course, it’s a complaint about Kate’s shoes. I simply can’t be bothered unless she walked through DDGs.
