Urbanchuck finds substantial economic impact from ethanol in 2010

More than 70,000 direct jobs are provided by the U.S. ethanol industry, and when total economic activity is considered more than 400,000 jobs are created, according to a study by Cardno Entrix economist John Urbanchuck.

Oil drops below $100, ethanol trades 23 cents lower than gas

Oil dropped more than $1 on Feb. 24 to $96.50 a barrel, down somewhat from a high of $103 a barrel--the highest it's been in two years. At the same time ethanol prices are 23 cents lower than gas, providing opportunities for discretionary blending.

Otter Tail Ag plant purchased by GPRE for $55 million

Green Plains Renewable Energy Inc. was the only bidder for Otter Tail Ag Enterprises LLC, winning approval from bankruptcy court to purchase the 55 MMgy plant for $55 million on Feb. 17. When the purchase is complete the company will own nine plants.
